Urgent: Nevada backpacking help!

Question:

Thanks to a last minute chance (and cheap airfares,) I’ve scheduled a four day  trip to Nevada.    Problem is: I leave Sunday 6/16 for Las Vegas and I’ve never backpacked in the area.    I will have a car, three full days and – after a few hours in Vegas – little money.  I want isolation and a 20 to 30 mile trip.        Any suggestions? Please?               Thank You

The Desert National Wildlife Range is about an hour North  of Las Vegas on Rt.95. If you’re interested in a Desert Experience. Water is VERY scarce, and you are NOT allowed to used the Guzzlers except in an EXTREME emergency. Also North on Rt. 95 is the Cold Creek area, Mt Charleston, and Kyle Canyon areas. North on state route 160 to Blue Diamond Road is  Red Rock Canyon. There are many camp sites there from which you can go on day or longer hikes. Nevada is approximately 90% government owned land, and most all of the BLM land can be hiked and camped on. A small store on the corner of Flamingo and Decatur, Travelin Maps and Books is owned by a man very knowledable about the area. Stop by and talk to him. Enjoy the area.
