Motivation/Rewards
Question:
You all have such great ideas, FOR WOMEN! ;-) But of course, you are women. An evening with a naked fireman wouldn’t quite do it for me, my door doesn’t swing that way
How about an evening with a naked firewoman? Heather 160/137.2/115
Response:
would you believe that my feet size shrank too?….. and I’d have sworn there was no fat there!
— krys
Krys, Several years ago my mom lost a LOT of weight… and her shoes size dropped several sizes. Weird, eh? ~M’isa Posted Via Binaries.net = SPEED+RETENTION+COMPLETION = http://www.binaries.net
Response:
Just adding another anecdote: When I lost about 40 pounds in my early 20s, I lost a shoe size. My sister was still a growing teenager, and she fit all of my old shoes. Seeing as how I had 20 or so pairs (oh, those were the days of disposable income and no real bills), was I ever mad
In none of my subsequent diet attempts have I lost a shoe size, nor have I gained since pregnancy, as some women have reported. Emily

Hey dustin thanks for those suggestions cuz I been wondering what to give the hubby when he reaches a goal.
Now I know
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – You all have such great ideas, FOR WOMEN! ;-) But of course, you are women. An evening with a naked fireman wouldn’t quite do it for me, my door doesn’t swing that way, clothes wouldn’t quite do it for me, shoes wouldn’t quite do it for me, such tough decisions for a stubborn guy like me. A new book, a new CD, a new movie, something for my computer, something for camping. Now those are suggestions for me. ;-) Just thought I’d throw in the two cents of at least one guy. Dustin ;-) I like this idea, Moll! Hmmm…my pieces of paper are going to say things like "evening with a naked fireman", though.
Here’s an idea, make a rewards jar. Write down on pieces of paper several things you want for yourself…going to the hair botique and have your hair done, get your nails done, buy a new purse or pair of jeans, shoes, whatever you might want. When you reach a goal of 5 lbs, 10 lbs whatever reach in the jar and pull out a reward then go do it.
Response:
I have a great spring dress a couple of sizes too small just waiting for me in my closet. I purchased it while it was on sale and keep it in my closet to remind me of the type of clothes I want to wear. Eventually, I wish to get smaller than a 14 (which is the size of the dress), but it’s a great motivator to keep me moving in the right direction… downwards!
) Another personal motivator is … This past summer, my son and I visited Sequoia National Forrest and we attempted to climb Morro Rock. Well being so out of shape, I couldn’t make it to the top
( I came so close but my legs were about to give out as it’s a pretty steep climb. Well we plan on going there again next summer and I’m determined to make it to the top! In this case, I want to move upwards!
) — I’m determined to reach goal! Elaine 241/235.5/135 Mini goal 217
What are your reasons/motivations for losing weight? How do you reward yourself? I’m trying to come up with ideas for rewards for myself and, it also always helps to see what motivates people. Thanks! ~M’isa

My motivations and rewards: Last time around, when I hit goal, I bought myself a neat native art design ring. Nothing expensive, but it was enough for me to see it every day and remind myself of what I had accomplished. When I was pregnant, my finger swelled up too much to wear it, and I decided not to wear it again until I reach goal again (or at least a mini-goal, because I really miss that ring! :0)). I’d also like to be able to fit into the 95% of my clothing that is too small. Ugh. Getting pretty tired of the same old pair of fat jeans. LOL I want to be able to comfortably kneel or sit cross-legged on the floor to play with my daughter. That’s motivation a-plenty! And finally, I felt comfortable with my appearance for the first time EVER when I hit goal last time, and my confidence was at an all-time high after I realized I could do anything if I set my mind to it! I want to get back there and feel that glorious feeling again. — ~Stephanie:0) 167/164/137

Sorry about that "mis-send" a minute ago….I re-read your message prior to reply and got in a reverie and hit send by mistake! lol Anyway, you have inspired me. I love the sound of your motivation, all of it. And I too am SICK of wearing the same black trousers to work nearly every day! I only have one pair that fits me, and I do wear a skirt occasionally but my choices are extremely limited there too. I wear different tops though and I kid myself that no one notices my boringness. Also love your "GOAL REWARD".
But best of all is that last paragraph. That "high" feeling of being at goal. I had that once. About 28 years ago
And I want it again

Motivation?? Hip huggers, bikinis, buying a pair of jeans in "my size" and being able to fit into them. I already have a round face and when I am overweight, it makes it a lot worse! — Robin Portland, OR 167/154/135
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – What are your reasons/motivations for losing weight? My motivation was a video from one of my daughters competitions. I saw this very large blond woman walking away from the camera. I then saw her attempt to climb into the stands, and she was having a difficult time, although you could tell she was trying to be graceful, it just looked awkard, and I was thinking how sad it was for her. Then when she sat down I saw the womans face. And it was me. God help me, I somehow had managed to convince myself that I wasn’t THAT fat. It’s like an anorexic, the total body distortion thing, in reverse. How do you reward yourself? I’m trying to come up with ideas for rewards for myself and, it also always helps to see what motivates people. As I posted elsewhere, when I hit my 10% I plan on buying myself a very nice bracelet, to which I will add charms for each of my 10%’s from there. I have enough clothes in my attic for all the sizes I went through on my way up, so I figure I’ll have plenty for on my way down. Though I will need a few new things to round it out, I’m sure. A massage would be heaven. I just can’t bring myself to let a stranger touch me to be able to have one now, but once I’m lighter and fitter that will be a big treat for myself. Jewelry…. earrings and bracelets for the most part. Ring sizes will be changing. (Hopefully!!) A trip back to New Orleans, hopefully with a significant other, but if not, then with a really good friend or maybe my sister. A trip to the Grand Canyon…. a real one, not just where you go and look out over it, but one you camp, and ride mules to go down into the canyons. Awesome!! And someday I’d like to go back to Europe, not as a fat American, but a svelte, sophisticated American. mizzcallie Thanks! ~M’isa

I don’t think it’s weird. I know that years ago, I was a size 8 1/2, and since I gained all my weight, I’ve been a 9/9 1/2. It’s the same with my fingers. My hands don’t LOOK fat (to me anyway) but I used to wear a 6 1/2-7 now it’s a 9 as well. Nine seems to be a recurring number today. If I played lottery I’d go buy a ticket with nines in it…lol mizzcallie – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Posted Via Binaries.net = SPEED+RETENTION+COMPLETION = http://www.binaries.net

Shoes are great!!!
I don’t seem to be changing sizes too much. I lost 22 lbs, (gained
and have lost another 1.5 (in 2 weeks…). I think when I dropped to a size 14/16 it was just so rewarding to buy clothes in the trendy stores. I was about an 18/20 before. I like to reward myself with clothes, but tend not to go overboard and buy anything really expensive- the Old Navy is great for that (except those darn lo-rise jeans..

This is such a great idea! We can’t reward ourselves with food, so we might as well pamper our new improved selves.. My reward is a pair of leather pants after 20 lbs. Unless of course I look ridiculous in them, in which case it will have to be something else. I have always wanted some, but never had the nerve to try on a pair in a size 16-18!
I think I will have the confidence in about 20 lbs.. Jenn – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Here’s an idea, make a rewards jar.
