Question:
i’ve made the appt and ordered the jewelry (!yAy!). just a few more q’s… i run and lift regularly (lift on nautilus – don’t have time fer free weights). would there be problems with a nipple pierce? even if i put some gauze over it when i run would it bounce slightly as i ran? the ring i got isn’t too heavy tho – 14ga 5/8" titanium. mebbe some minor bounce, but then again i dunno how sensitive a nipple pierce is. which side is more suitable? i’ve considered the right since it seems that side wants it more 
. listen to yer body someone said. plus, currently i have more on my left side (all ear – this’ll be my first non-ear). it seems i’m left side dominant: bags carried on left, fone usage on left, sleep on left, left pockets most used, but right handed (go figure . a right pierce seems to balance things nicely. but if there’s something i haven’t considered…. BARBELL BARBELL BARBELL. I can’t stress this enough! And any piercer who says that barbell cannot be used with new piercings needs to go back to school, or at least spend time with a wide cross-section of pierced people (like rab!). which side is more suitable? i’ve considered the right since it seems that side wants it more .
Is one nipple more developed than the other? Also – the piercing may be made through the base of the nipple *or* through the areola to either side of the nipple, depending on *your* anatomy. <whine but i’ve already ordered a kewl ring, gauntlet’s illusion ring. i had initially considered a bar but when i saw the illusion ring i wanted one. my first non-ear pierce, so i figured a unique ring for a unique pierce . but if u say so, i’ll wear the i.ring in my ear in the meantime…. Oh, gees, that roughly finished titanium. I know of three people it has caused problems for, and in one case it was a healed piercing! IMHO, their titanium finish is way to rough for a new piercing – it is so non-reactive that your body will want to accept it, ie. grow to it (hence it’s excellent use as an implant). (sorry, Michaela, but Gauntlet is not beyond imperfection; no one is) he said it can be done but he still suggests a ring. sez they’re more fun and easier to clean.
But in your case, a barbell is safer with your activities. For some people a barbell is the only way they can heal a piercing. My husband grew out of two sets of rings (migrated badly) – 14ga and 12ga 3/4". PS And with a barbell you have the option of wearing a cool u-hanger. Not many people have u-hangers! even for healed pierces? welp, i hope it won’t have too much trouble in my ear. "no refunds on sale items"…. c’est la vie. But in your case, a barbell is safer with your activities.

My piercer and also a friend suggested salt-water soaking with shot glasses. Then when it comes time for my evening cleaning, I fill the sink with warm water, lean down and clean and rinse that way. I hardly even make a mess. However, being larged breasted makes this technique fairly easy. Since you are a male, it might not work so well. :( Cathy

I used betadine whiling cleaning my nipple and I don’t make a mess at all. What I do is I first wipe off all of the crust with a q-tip that has water or bactine on it, then I put a little bit of betadine on both sides of it, I gently work it in, then I use toilet paper to soak up the excess betadine, then I use several q-tips with water or bactine on them to clean up all the betadine left in, on, and around my nipple, I keep on using the q-tips until there is no visible sign of the betadine left.
